Is the Wave Arts Panorama plugin compatible with Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Winamp, etc. or do I have to purchase some other hardware or software for it to work?

The plugin will not work with Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Winamp or any other player available because it is distributed as VST, DirectX, and RTAS. This means that you will need a music composing software which supports these type of plug-ins.
